4 more weeks until my contract with SP is finished. It's hard to believe it is almost over, so much has happened and there is still so much to do.
I just got back from a quick weekend in Kampala. It was nice to jump in a truck and make the trip to recharge my batteries, drink milkshakes, eat a burger and have 24 hour electricity. The hot shower felt awesome after 2 months of naked shower dancing and muttering of unmentionables.
I'm really excited about the new irrigation project and it has been great to see a remarkable amount of progress in such a short period of time. By next week we will have all the ground cleared and cultivated and most of the pipes should be installed. We may be planting seeds soon and getting them to germinate before we transplant them. It's exciting progress and the community has been a wonderful participant.
KPAP is in a short hiatus. We finished our contract with WFP last month but have agrees to continue monitoring the program and meeting with communities to make sure the work continues. It should help us prepare for next year. Speaking of next year, plans are still uncertain. I just finished working on next years budget in which I basically created a job and salary for myself (or another lucky ex-pat). I would like to come back and continue working on food security and agriculture. For now, it's 4 more weeks, a week in Kenya laying on the beach and drinking fruity drinks, then back to the cold of Philly. Hopefully, I can return in January to start KPAP 2011.
A few prayer requests as I close.
Pray for my last few weeks, that I stay focused, finish strong and set things up to succeed in my absence. I also have a ton of school work to do so pray for focus and discipline as I finish grad school!
Pray for SP Uganda as we deal with some immigration/visa problems. Uganda is changing their policies and things are a bit complicated. Join us in praying for God's intervention and grace.
Ebola is believed to be spreading through some regions of Karamoja and 8 people have died so far. Cholera is also present in some regions. Pray for those 2 health emergencies.
Pray for my future plans and for God's purpose and will to be clearly seen and felt.
