6:15 Generator turns on, so does my brain from its sleep-induced coma.
7:25 open up the office.
8:00 devotions.
8:35 Generator seized, no bueno. No power, no internet, no printer. I'm sunk.
10:00 Decision made to take it to Soroti to meet up with another SP truck going to Kampala. AKA, I'm going to Soroti to get ice cream. In reality, a manager had to go because we were also buying about 400 litres of fuel, thus justifying the trip.
7:30pm arrive back. Here's what happened in between.
- Pass by bus that is perfectly perpendicular to the road. How it got that way I do not know. So we did a bit of off-roading to pass it. No biggie.
- Pass fuel truck as it too is stuck. No biggie.
- Arrive in Soroti, buy fuel, hand off generator.
- Hit cow on the way back. It was a little one, got caught under the bumper and left front tire. Skull crushed, no bueno. Drove away quickly so we don't get shot at.
- Get stuck trying to pass a bus. Get muddy trying to free vehicle. Prayed. Answered.
- Pass the bus that passed us because it too got stuck. Suckers.
- Arrive home/ at the office
- Blackboard post for school
- Played with my dog
- shower, eat and then go to bed.
This day is by no means normal or at least I hope it isn't. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
Props to Desmond Tutu for his years of service and legitimacy in receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. Props to Halladay for a no-no in his first playoff start. Sorry I missed it. But I did get ice cream today so nothing can keep me down.
